Ideal for group or family retreat/event

We arrived at Villa Estrella in the evening to garden lights shining on bright pink bougainvillea vines, dinner in the kitchen, and the sound of the ocean. Our group was there for a yoga retreat, and Villa Estrella was one of the houses we occupied for an entire week. There is a spacious living area that is covered, yet continues out to the dipping pool. Plenty of room for yoga mats. The two larger bedrooms were lovely, and one can fall asleep~ and wake up~ to the sounds of waves. The room with 2 single beds is best for kids. Rosa and Sofia are exceptional cooks, and we were very well fed. They are able to accommodate some dietary requests with advance notice. The gardeners keep the pools clean and the grounds of the private compound are beautifully landscaped and maintained. This was our second year bringing a group to Punta el Custodio, and we are looking forward to returning in 2017. The owners are very prompt in responding to email. Those of you new to coastal Mexico: bring adequate insect repellent, antihistamines, and lotion for bites. The 'no see-ums' like tender tourist skin. Also, lightweight clothing that includes long-sleeved tops and pants is super helpful. And if you arrived stressed, chances are excellent it will all be washed away within hours of your arrival Enjoy! Liza, BC

Beyond all expectations

We rented villa Estrella for two weeks and couldn't have been happier with every aspect of our vacation. The villa was exactly as advertised. The photos really do a wonderful job depicting the villa and everything it has to offer. The property is truly spectacular. We were lulled to sleep every night by the pacific crashing onto the point. We spent many days in both the private pool and the larger, communal pool. Most days, we waded across the estuary mouth with our two and four year old kids and played in the tide pools that formed in the sand. These pools were perfect for our kids as they would heat up by the sun throughout the day. The pools created a perfect place for all of us to enjoy the ocean. I also spent several days surfing near perfect, uncrowded waves and many days fishing off the point with light tackle. The point happens to be a great fishing spot with many different species of fish within casting range. We signed up for the meal plan and it was worth every penny (though it was very reasonably priced). Rosa and Sophia took great care of us all and made us feel so at home. My wife has already become Facebook friends with Sophia and truly bonded with both women. If you're considering renting villa Estrella, we would highly suggest you do so. It definitely takes a little effort to get there but with the driving service to and from the airport it really couldn't be easier. We definitely hope to be back again and again in the future years to come. Nicholas

Family paradise

WOW! What a wonderful 10 days we enjoyed at the beautiful Villa Estrella with family and friends. So many adventures for the whole family (our girls are ages 5 and 7) to go on each day including hiking cobblestone paths through the lush gardens, beach combing for crabs and critters, surfing and boogie boarding (favorite!), relaxing by the pools, eating all the delicious meals prepared by Rosa, 1/2 day fishing excursion to the reef (early morning for the dads!), snorkeling off the rocks in front of the villa, and enjoying fresh caught fish prepared over an open fire in the nearby fishing village of Plantanitos. And that was just the first day! Of course the weather was a sunny and comfortable mid 80's each day to work on the tan, and each bedroom was air conditioned for the perfect nights sleep after a hard day at play! Villa Estrella is more than a great vacation get away- its a treasure. And anyone lucky enough to visit this glorious little slice of heaven as we did will know exactly what I'm talking about. Thank you so much for sharing with our family! Steve and Michelle, Bellingham, WA

best getaway

It was amazing I can't even explain how wonderful everything was an even more wonderful were rosa and Raquel... I'd like to look into booking for near the first of the year around Christmas time it was a little humid for me but everything else was picture perfect and exactly as you explained. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us...liza

Paradise

As we approached the villa from the narrow rocky road, I have to admit we were a little leery. As the driver pulled through the gate, we saw the beautiful colors surrounded by lush greenery contrasting with the cobblestone pathways. It looked as if we had descended into paradise! As we entered the villa, little were we aware the beauty we would encounter from the flowers, blue sky and the blue water of the pool! It was just gorgeous everywhere we turned! Finally, to top things off, a scrumptious dinner awaited us. We will definitely be returning. Shakat

A Return Trip to Charge our Batteries

After a record cold February in Toronto we decided to recharge our batteries basking in the warm sun at Villa Estrella. This was our 2nd visit to this beautiful and very peaceful retreat in Nayarit. Walking along the pristine beach, boogie boarding, swimming in the pool or just relaxing with a good book and a margarita, are just a few of the wonderful activities we treasured. Falling asleep to the sound of the wind and the ocean nurtured the best sleep I can remember in years. The whales frolicking in the ocean on our last evening was the icing on the cake; an amazing vacation! The food was great and plentiful. Looking forward to our next visit! Ron, Ontario

Villa Estrella is the best!

Once again the most amazing trip ever! Just north of Sayulita is the hidden gem that is Villa Estrella. It is located within a remote community of lush gardens and beautifully appointed seaside villas. Villa Estrella feels like your own luxurious home, appointed with rich, authentic furnishings. Rosa is an amazing cook and caretaker. She prepares gourmet meals using fresh local produce. Most days were spent sunbathing and swimming at the large pool with incredible vista views. In the evenings, we would sip drinks in our own personal heated infinity pool. Our adventures included whale watching, visiting the turtle and crocodile sanctuaries, visiting a beach side restaurant for oven roasted pizzas, and surfing the waves on the private beach. This is the best value for money for people wanting a relaxing holiday away from the crowds of big resorts who want to see and experience the real beauty of mexico. Boston

Amazing Villa and Outstanding Scenary

This was my first time staying at Villa Estrella and I sure hope it is not my last. Even though we came at the end of raining season there was still ample sunshine and some amazing thunderstorms in the evening. The Villa itself is breathtaking from the very first moment you walk in the door, you are immediately blown away by the view of the ocean from your open air living room with a huge vaulted ceiling. The location, in the small gated resort community of villas, is perfectly situated directly beside the communal pool if you are looking to do laps. However, the villa also has it's own infinity pool attached to the villa perfect for keeping cool and staring out into the ocean for hours on end. If that wasn't enough the Villa came with the most amazing Mexican ladies who were there daily cooking us amazing meals and keeping everything in order. Rosa and Rakell were so sweet I just wish I could have them everyday. The meals were absolutely delicious. Everyone there including the property manager Ismael were so helpful. I would highly recommend if you get the chance to stay here. I hope to again in the very near future. Happy Traveller

Beautiful Villa

We stayed at Villa Estrella from Feb 14-24, 2014. This villa is gorgeous and very comfortable. There was a review about the beds being hard but we loved the beds, they're like a memory foam mattress. The best part of this vacation was having Rosa and Raquel come in every day and cooking us breakfast, lunch and supper. They also clean bathrooms, make beds and did our laundry everyday, total luxury!! We rented a car and drove from Puerto Vallarta and we were really glad we did this. The directions Ulrich gave us were perfect and we had no problem getting there, it took us 2 hours. We liked being able to go on little day trips, we went to San Blas (45 min away), Sayulita (1hr 15min away), Zucualpan (15 min away), Las Varas (25 min away). There is no town close by that you can walk to if you needed to get to an ATM or if you wanted to do some shopping, so a car was great. We went boogie boarding everyday (boogie boards are provided) and crossed over the the beach a couple of times while there. You can only get across to the beach at certain times of the day because of the tides running in and out of the estuary. When you can get across you have to walk through the water which is at the deepest up to your waist with big waves coming in. We loved the infinity pool, we never even used the community pool. Just sitting in the pool and looking out to the ocean watching whales jump, pelicans flying over and fish jumping was our favourite activity. The no-see-ums were a big problem for us, they come out in the morning and at dusk. We wore our insect repellent but we all got bit badly. We heard from a few people that a good defence against this is to get a B-12 shot about 2 wks before your holiday, which we would for sure do next time. We took our teenage daughter with us and she found she was bored with no internet or TV to watch in the evenings. I would take a computer (there is no television) and movies and a friend for her next time!! This place is great for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Shannon

Relaxing, Beautiful, Amazing Villa and Beach

We have been here multiple times and is one of our favorite vacations. The villa is beautiful, the food is amazing, the beaches are prestine. I could go on and on. I highly recommend this rental to everyone! Lindsey and Carl, BC
